GMHCC Annual Meeting Report 2008
The 2008 GMHCC Annual Meting was held in St. Cloud on October 6th. A little over thirty (30) delegates from the three GMHCC regions were on hand for the annual event.
The group had the opportunity to review and approve the 2009 operating budget for the coming year, which is projected to show a surplus if a substantial proposed grant application from the Blandin Foundation is approved for funding. If the application doesn’t receive funding, GMHCC will operate with a small deficit for the year. After considering the options and possibilities the convention delegates ratified and approved the proposed budget.
A number of resolutions were proposed for review and approval at both the state and federal level.
Following the presentations of all of the resolutions submitted to the convention by each region, delegates were allowed to submit amendments and then either accept or reject the resolutions.
A simple wording amendment was offered to one resolution targeted for Medicare Reform. The wording amendment creates clearer language regarding Medicare prescription drug coverage, and the need for improvement of the benefit. That amendment was unanimously approved by the delegates and, following that vote, the group unanimously accepted all proposed resolutions.
Voting on priorities for 2009 for GMHCC followed the resolution process to determine where resources would be allocated for the year.
The MN Health Plan was voted top STATE priority, and Medicare Reform was selected as the top FEDERAL Priority.
